The ‘me’ doll with my favourite green belt, favourite Black label hat and the pink hair that I had at the time of the Melbourne Art Fair 2008 for which the ‘me’ doll was made. A few people besides ‘me’ were interested in buying him. One of those people wasn’t Bill Henson; I think he was shitty at me! The’me’ doll is on the wall next to the original Mayu doll (pics coming soon) overlooking our kitchen table like a couple of lovebirds.
Andy from TOYSREVIL has reported on a bootleg CUPCO CLOUD MAN discovered by the boss of ADFUNTURE Eddi and posted on his blog. Here is what Eddi had to say:

I must admit, there was that funny feeling when I saw bootlegs of our own products.
Rage? Well, I’m over that by now. Flattery? Well, you can flatter us by selling authentic adFunture products! So, I’m in between the emotion of rage and flattery. Yes, is a conflict disorder of sort.

And I know tis wrong to promote bootlegs, but that is simply quite awesome a figure, innit? (Sorry about that Luke! ;p)
FYI: CLOUD MAN was created by CUPCO! and has been featured in an animated clip and was initially a part of a series of creator/artist-toys under the Love Original Project banner under Red Magic (circa 2006-07), but apparently did not make it to full production. Or did it?
I remembered in an interview with Argentinean-designers DGPH back in 2007 – where they mentioned versions of their GANESH toy (also with Love Original) were also rumored to be floating in the market. These are probably initial samples of the figure, but it sure smells fishy to me. Not cool. And a shame too, becoz clearly Cloud Man would’ve rawked, IMHO.

The japanese writing says MA-RI-O. For a special project I’m working on involving someone called MA-RI-O who also happens to be Japanese. Or is he of Italo-Japanese descent?
